Ritz Village by the Thames/The Missing Link Campaign Update
In July 2007, the Ministry of Health and Long Term care announced that all B and C beds are to be upgraded to A bed category within 10 years. Ritz Lutheran Villa currently has 64 C and 21 B beds and Mitchell Nursing Home has 48 C beds. When this announcement was made, the Board of Directors re-evaluated the Ritz Village by the Thames Assisted Living project and came to the conclusion it could not proceed at this time.
The financial resources required to build a new long term care home, which would consolidate the long term care beds in our two homes on one site and the assisted living project are beyond Ritz Lutheran Villa’s financial means at this time.
The Missing Link Campaign is continuing with the original intent that it will be the central core (the “Hub”) for all the services for seniors we currently provide or may provide in the future. All donations to the Missing Link Campaign are in a separate reserve account designated for the Missing Link. Construction of the Missing Link will be incorporated into the construction of the new long term care home on the current Ritz Lutheran Villa campus within the next 10 years.
