The initiative to establish a home for seniors came from the late Charles Ritz of Minneapolis, a Mitchell native who enjoyed success in the milling industry, and who sought a meaningful project to benefit seniors in his hometown. He challenged area Lutheran congregations to assist him in a strategy to build and maintain a home, and with the support of the entire community, his dream was realized in 1974. That dream remains entirely alive today in a vast and dynamic multi residential community.
